Spring Birds in our Neighborhood

This has been an unusually good spring for birdwatching.      Here are some of the recent visitors to our own yard, and one surprise visitor at the end   (hold on to your hats!)     Captions have been given, in case some of these little critters are unfamiliar, which to me, some definitely were.     (Click on a photo to enlarge it and see captions;   use the arrows above a photo to continue the show.)     Ed

April Flowers in our Neighborhood

I thought you might like a little slideshow of flowers currently on display around our neighborhood.   The Scilla offers one of the best shows;    it seems to grow everywhere, even where grass won’t, and the show goes on for a few weeks.  (Click on photo to enlarge;    then click on “slideshow” to set the timing.)      Ed

Birds of our Neighborhood

Guess what dropped in on us this afternoon?    This adorable, tiny songbird, a female golden-crowned kinglet   (Regulus satrapa).     I think it would be nice to have people send me their own favorite photos of birds in their neighborhood;    we can make a lovely slideshow.     Eddsc_0005
