Birds of our Neighborhood

Guess what dropped in on us this afternoon?    This adorable, tiny songbird, a female golden-crowned kinglet   (Regulus satrapa).     I think it would be nice to have people send me their own favorite photos of birds in their neighborhood;    we can make a lovely slideshow.     Eddsc_0005

Student Parking: News from Campus Security

We thank Carleton’s Security Dept. for this news of how student parking is being handled.    Ed

Greetings,

This email just went out to all students:

Student Parking Notice:

The College has become aware of a significant increase in the number of vehicles parking overnight on the city streets adjacent to the College.  This is particularly true on Maple, College and Union Streets.  A recent survey indicates that nearly all of these vehicles are registered with our office and are assigned to park in a campus parking lot.  Students registered as Off-Off are reminded that landlords are required by City Ordinance to provide off street parking for their tenants.

Last fall, President Oden reminded faculty, staff and students of the importance to, “… extend our utmost courtesy to the surrounding neighborhood by making sensible and thoughtful parking choices.”   This can best be accomplished by not parking overnight on city streets, observing the two-hour parking limits where posted, and by not blocking/obstructing sidewalks and private driveways.

Unless this situation improves, the College will have no other option than to request that the Northfield Police more rigorously enforce city parking ordinances by issuing ($ 25) citations to offending vehicles.

THANK YOU for your cooperation!
